Hot Off the Press
Boston Ballet's New Executive Director, Barry C. Hughson | Mikko Nissinen, Artistic Director, announced Thursday the appointment of Barry C. Hughson as Executive Director beginning June 1, 2009. Hughson, a native of Connecticut, began his life-long vocation in the arts when his mother enrolled him in a ballet class at the age of nine. He continued on to a 19 year career as a professional dancer with the Washington (D.C.) Ballet. Hughson, currently Executive Director of the Atlanta Ballet, has had a distinguished career in arts administration which began at the Warner Theatre in Connecticut. He was also Executive Director of Complexions Contemporary Ballet in New York City, and worked at the American Repertory Ballet and Princeton Ballet School in New Jersey.

BBII On Stage, In Studio
March 28, 7pm
A one-night-only performance highlighting the talents of Boston Ballet II and Boston Ballet School Trainees. ON STAGE, IN STUDIO will feature an evening of classical and contemporary dance designed to celebrate the versatility and artistry of these gifted young dancers. Works will range from Balanchine's Tarantella and excerpts from Petipa's Sleeping Beauty, to two new works commissioned specifically for BBII from Heather Myers and Francisco Martinez.
