Summer Dance Workshop provides an opportunity for students to receive top-quality ballet training, while also studying the wider world of dance. Conveniently scheduled in July in the Marblehead and Norwell locations and in August in the Boston and Newton locations following July summer intensive programs, the Summer Dance Workshop is a great opportunity to extend summer training and maintain peak physical shape. Students will have the option of enrolling for either the half-day program (9am-12pm) or the full-day program (9am-4pm).
We plan to offer an extended day option at all locations in the morning from 8-9am and evening from 4-6pm.
The morning portion of Summer Dance Workshop will focus primarily on ballet. Classes will include ballet technique, ballet workshop, dance conditioning, and pre-pointe/pointe for the most-advanced students. After a lunch break, students who choose the full-day program will participate in enrichment classes such as jazz, musical theater, character, and Chinese dance. The holistic approach of the afternoon enrichment program promotes students’ appreciation of dance in its many wonderful forms while building their technical, artistic, and performance skills. The program culminates with a lively end-of-workshop presentation for family and friends.
Students enrolled in Boston Ballet School for the 2008-2009 school year will automatically receive registration materials for SDW. New students will need to attend an audition. On the first day of the program all students will be evaluated and placed in the appropriate level.
