Boston Ballet School is a nationally renowned dance-training institute offering a high caliber dance instruction for over 53 years. Internationally recognized instructors and artists teach a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide a strong classical technique, adaptable to any style, and to instill a life-long love of dance and movement.
Boston Ballet Founder E. Virginia Williams established Boston Ballet School in 1953, ten years before the official launch of the Company, with the vision of establishing the highest quality dance education facility in the region. The program was officially incorporated as Boston Ballet School in 1979. The Center for Dance Education was established in 1983 to administer both Boston Ballet School and a unique array of summer and outreach programs that engage and serve the community including: Summer Dance Program, DanceLab, Young Dancers Summer Workshop, Citydance, Taking Steps and Adaptive Dance.

Boston Ballet School is the largest ballet school in North America. Over 1,600 students are currently enrolled in our school year program. The total school population exceeds 3,000 annual participants when adult classes, summer programs and outreach students are taken into account.
The School has three studio locations - Boston (South End), MetroWest (Newton) and South Shore (Norwell) - and operates its outreach programs in multiple locations throughout Boston. A North Shore location in Marblehead is slated to open in 2009 in partnership with YMCA. Learn more.
Each year over 300 Boston Ballet School students delight in the opportunity to participate in Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker, an acclaimed Boston holiday tradition.
Among the School's 2006 graduates:
- Three joined Boston Ballet II, the Company's apprentice troupe
- One joined Suzanne Farrell Ballet in Washington, DC as a company member
- One joined Joffrey Ballet in Chicago as an apprentice
- Many will be entering their freshman year at some of the nation's top colleges and universities
